Wine Bar

Cellar Door is an award-winning wine bar in the Christchurch Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora.

The beloved site was built in 1877 as Christchurch Girl’s High School, in 1881 became the Canterbury College then Canterbury University School of Art until 1957, and was gifted to the people of Christchurch to become The Arts Centre in 1978.

A restaurant from 1979, the room has a long history of warm hospitality, home to local treasure Annie’s Wine Bar for 21 years until the 2011 Christchurch earthquake.

Cellar Door wine bar opened in early 2020, joining neighbours Lumiere Cinemas and The Observatory Hotel bringing life back into the South Quad of the Christchurch Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora, and quickly became a favourite of local wine lovers in Otautahi Christchurch.
